According to the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), at around 345 PM Thursday, May 19th, a man in rural King County allegedly opened fire at a home near Duvall, prompting an evacuation of two relatives and a search for one man in the surrounding woods.

The situation started as a family disturbance and is now a search for an armed suspect in the woods near 20200 Mountain View Rd NE (near Duvall).

Public Information Officer Tim Meyer of the KCSO said in a press conference around 7 pm that authorities believe the shooting suspect has now been contained in the property in question thanks to KCSO and WSP air support and observations on the scene.

Authorities from several different agencies are now working on getting the man safely into custody. Meyer gave no specifics on what types of weapons were involved and asked that their members and detectives are given the time and space on the ground to do their work.

At that time, the major crimes unit was en route to the scene in the remote area of King County. Two people in the home who share some family relationship with the suspect were safely rescued by members of the TAC30 team.

In addition to KCSO, the Monroe and Duvall police department are aiding in the search and deputies from Snohomish County. The regional fire authority is allowing the KCSO to use its space as a command post.
