A new road project is about to start on State Route 203 near Carnation and Fall City.
The SR 203/Slough Bridge Vic to Kelly Rd NE Vic-Stormwater Retrofit project will install vegetation along SR 203 just north of Fall City near Southeast Third Street (milepost 1) and at Northeast 77th Street north of Carnation (milepost 8).
What to expect
People traveling SR 203 can expect single-lane closures at each location with flaggers alternating traffic through the work zones. The lane closures will happen Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will begin daily lane closures on SR 203 Monday, April 27. No work is scheduled for the week of May 4-8, but is expected to resume at 10 a.m. Monday, May 11.
The project is expected to be completed in summer 2026.
About the project
WSDOT is required to reduce pollution from state-owned or operated storm sewer systems. The installed vegetation will treat stormwater runoff from the roadway to help protect nearby wetlands and other sensitive areas.
Nearly 8,000 vehicles travel this section of SR 203 each day.
Real-time traffic information is available on the WSDOT mobile app and the real-time travel map.
