Has your life been touched by cancer? Chances are, it has.

So local volunteers working side by side with the American Cancer Society invite you to come out and play at the Snoqualmie Valley’s “Block Party with a Purpose” — also known as the 17th annual Relay for Life.

The entire community is invited to take part in the festivities—grab a bite to eat, enjoy the entertainment and games, and “shop” at the team campsites for locally hand-crafted items and treats.

This year’s [overnight] event will be take place at Tollgate Farm Park in North Bend this weekend, starting on Saturday July 14th at 2pm – and ending Sunday, July 15th at 8AM.

The signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, is an 18-hour team relay event to raise funds to fight cancer and raise cancer awareness in the Snoqualmie Valley. It’s also a celebration of life honoring cancer survivors, caregivers, victims, and anyone who has had their life forever altered by the devastating disease.

This year’s Snoqualmie Valley theme is “Get on Board” featuring a life-sized Monopoly game named “Relay-Opoly”. Some local businesses have even purchased monopoly properties on the huge board as a way of supporting the cause. The “Top Hat” sponsor this year is Nintendo of America.

Local relay teams have been raising funds over the past few months – all  leading up to the big event where they camp out and take turns walking or running around the path lined by luminarias that represent community members battling cancer or loved ones lost to cancer. While each team has a representative on the track at all times, entertainment, music, and fun activities keep things lively for attendees.

Symbolizing the battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer, the 18-hour event empowers communities and individuals to join the fight for a world without cancer.

Good Luck, Snoqualmie Valley Relay for Life!
