Snoqualmie Approves Interim Police Services Fee Increase for North Bend

The City of Snoqualmie agreed to North Bend’s proposed rate increase through May 2025, while a long-term agreement can be finalized.

At their January 7th council meeting, North Bend approved an interim extension of its police services agreement with Snoqualmie. This will ensure continued law enforcement coverage while negotiations for a long-term contract continue. The temporary agreement includes an annualized payment increase to $2,835,674 from the previous $2.5 million.

The Snoqualmie City Council unanimously approved an amendment to the police services contract with North Bend. The amendment included North Bend’s proposed 12.9% increase in the fee for police services through May 2025, giving the cities additional time to negotiate a new long-term contract.

“We are proud of the exceptional public safety the Snoqualmie Police Department has provided North Bend for over a decade. We believe this amendment provides the necessary time for both cities to work on a long-term contract for police services,” said Mayor Katherine Ross.

“Our top priority is coming to an agreement that is fair to the taxpayers of both cities and reflects the level of service required for our communities. The fee increase proposed by North Bend is an important first step to ensuring police services can be funded at the levels Snoqualmie and North Bend residents expect and deserve.”

The Snoqualmie Police Department has provided police services to the City of North Bend through a long-term contract since 2012. Since 2024, the city and the City of North Bend have been negotiating a new Interlocal Agreement (ILA) for police services.

With the interim agreement in place, both cities will continue discussions to finalize a long-term contract that ensures sustainable funding for law enforcement while meeting the needs of their communities.
