Shape the Future: W Park St and Main Ave S Intersection Improvement Open House

North Bend residents depend on well-maintained roads and sidewalks to navigate the city safely and easily. To enhance pedestrian safety while keeping traffic moving, the City is exploring improvements to the intersection at West Park St and Main Ave S — and your feedback is essential!

Join city staff and project partners at North Bend City Hall on Tuesday, October 22, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for an Open House. This event is an opportunity for the community to share insights into what’s working and what could be improved at this key intersection.

In 2023, the City conducted a traffic study with the help of an engineering consultant to assess the intersection and propose potential upgrades. In 2024, city staff connected with residents and local business owners to better understand their priorities. Now, the city is seeking further community input at this Open House to shape the project’s next phase.

This effort is part of the City’s broader plan to enhance the Park St corridor, funded by Transportation Impact Fees.

Some proposed changes for the intersection include:

  • Curb bulbs to reduce pedestrian crossing distances
  • A protected bike lane on Park St, improving connections to Bendigo Blvd S, Riverfront Park, the Tanner Trail, and William Taylor Park
  • A right turn pocket for eastbound Park St traffic turning onto southbound Main Ave S
  • A raised “tabletop” intersection to slow traffic
  • An intersection median to limit left turns across Main Ave S
  • Improved street and pedestrian lighting
  • A centerline curb on Park St between Bendigo Blvd S and Main Ave S to prevent left turns from nearby driveways

Following the Open House, the project will move into the engineering design phase in 2025, with construction planned for 2026 or 2027.
