North Bend Theatre Hosts Local Premiere of “Train Dreams,” a Pacific Northwest Epic Filmed in Snoqualmie Valley

On Friday, November 7, at 7:00 PM, the North Bend Theatre will roll out the red carpet for the local premiere of Train Dreams, a lyrical Western drama filmed in part right here in the Snoqualmie Valley.

Adapted from Denis Johnson’s Pulitzer Prize finalist novella, the film stars Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, and William H. Macy in a sweeping tale of solitude, industry, and transformation in the early 20th-century Pacific Northwest.

Directed by Clint Bentley (Sing Sing and Jockey)Train Dreams follows Robert Grainier, a quiet laborer whose life unfolds amid the grandeur and brutality of railroad expansion and logging across Washington and Idaho. The film’s evocative cinematography captures the region’s natural splendor and historical grit, with scenes filmed locally that spotlight the Snoqualmie Valley.

“This film reflects the logging heritage of the families in the Snoqualmie Valley,” says Beth Burrows, owner of the North Bend Theatre. “It masterfully captures the rugged, often perilous lives our great grandparents endured, clearing timber, building railroads, and raising families in the shadow of the Cascades. We’re thrilled to see Train Dreams bring their legacy to life on screen and are grateful to Netflix for all their support.”

  • Red carpet arrival and commemorative ticket giveaways
  • Special introduction by the Northwest Railway Museum, whose support helped bring the film to life
