Head-On Crash on SR 18 Kills Kent Man, Blocks Road for Hours

A head-on collision on SR 18 killed a 67-year-old Kent man on Wednesday, May 27th and blocked the roadway for more than three hours.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the crash occurred at approximately 12:14 p.m. near milepost 22, just east of Issaquah-Hobart Road. The Kent man was driving a 1997 Subaru Legacy wagon eastbound in the left lane when he crossed into the westbound lanes and struck an oncoming semi-truck head-on.

The semi, a 2026 Peterbilt hauling a trailer, was driven by a 61-year-old man from Utah. He was not injured in the collision. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The Kent driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

WSP listed the cause of the crash as unsafe passing. Drugs or alcohol were not listed as factors.

Both vehicles were totaled. Todd’s Towing responded to the scene. SR 18 was blocked for approximately three hours and 30 minutes before reopening.
