UPDATE | October 12, 2019, 4PM
SR 18 reopened just before 4PM. The roadway between the Tiger Mountain summit and I-90 was closed for approximately six hours. Police said initial indicators were that a mechanical failure/issue caused the semi to roll.
At 10:30AM, October 12, 2019, the Washington State Patrol said SR 18 was fully blocked near Tiger Mountain due to a semi tanker truck rollover accident.
The accident occurred near the Raging River bridge (milepost 26). WSP reported the truck was leaking diesel fuel on the roadway.
The truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident that is under investigation. WSP said initial indicators are that a mechanical failure/issue was the cause. The driver sustained minor injuries.
Westbound SR 18 is closed at I-90 and eastbound SR 18 is closed at the Tiger Mountain summit. Around 1PM, WSP said due to a change in the tow truck/recovery plans, there still wasn’t an estimate on when the roadway would reopen.
Trooper Rick Johnson tweeted, “Both directions of SR 18 will be closed for some time…This is an extensive recovery and cleanup due to the size/load of the truck as well as the location above the river.”
The Snoqualmie Police Department and WSP advised drivers to avoid the area.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
