North Bend’s Starfish Roundabout Takes Shape as Road Closure Nears

Construction on North Bend’s Starfish Roundabout at North Bend Way and NW 8th Street is well into its second phase. Crews are pouring curbs, and the roundabout’s center island is now taking shape.

Beginning Monday, November 9, a portion of NW 8th St will close between State Route 202/Bendigo Boulevard and W North Bend Way. During this time, crews from Active Construction, Inc. will connect the NE leg of the RAB at NW 8th St to the existing road. This portion of NW 8th St will reopen by Friday, November 13, still using its former alignment. The road will officially shift over to the new alignment when the project is shifted to Phase 3.

So far, construction remains on schedule. The City anticipates the Starfish Roundabout project to wrap up by Spring 2027.

In 2027, a secondary transportation project, the South Fork Avenue Extension Bypass, will connect SR 202 to the Starfish Roundabout. Together, the two projects will reduce truck traffic downtown and incorporate undergrounding of power lines in the area.
