Si View Metropolitan Park District announced construction of its new, much-anticipated skatepark facility at Torguson Park starts on July 9th, 2020.
Construction of the skatepark first involves removing the existing 6,000 square foot aging facility to make way for the much larger, 13,000 square foot facility.
Si View Parks worked with Seattle-based skatepark construction company, Grindline, to develop preliminary designs based on community input gathered at two public meetings.
The skatepark will include elements for all skill levels, along with a central gathering area. It also has space for a future expansion. Other improvements include a pedestrian path, landscaping and associated amenities.
According to a news release, the project is anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2020.
Work hours will be between 7AM to 7PM, Monday through Friday, with possible work on Saturdays between 9AM and 5PM.
Work will be performed following the Washington state’s latest COVID-19 guidance for construction job sites.

With all the concerns about fentanyl, heroin, and other drugs, and our youth, why would we pick 3 – 4 months in the middle of summer to close down a skate park ? Organized sports have been sidelined, some hikes are still shut down, and kids have been locked down for 3 months. Seems like a good recipe for problems.
