The westbound Interstate 90 off-ramp to State Route 18/Snoqualmie Parkway will be closed for the weekend beginning Friday night, March 21, to realign and expand the ramp near the city of Snoqualmie.
People traveling through the area from 9 p.m. Friday, March 21, to 5 a.m. Monday, March 24, should follow a signed detour, continuing westbound I-90 to Fall City/Preston (exit 22) and looping back to the eastbound I-90 off-ramp to SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway. This includes people traveling westbound over Snoqualmie Pass who plan to head west on SR 18.
Off-ramp changes
During the closure, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will relocate the barrier, pave new roadway and stripe new lanes to SR 18 near the interchange.
When it reopens Monday morning, the off-ramp—currently a single lane—will split into two lanes before crossing a newly installed culvert beneath the ramp. This will provide additional space for people waiting at the signal to turn left onto westbound SR 18. People can use either lane to make that left turn toward Auburn. Drivers will use the right lane at the turn signal to travel north on Snoqualmie Parkway.
Another weekend ramp closure coming
The March 21-24 work on the westbound I-90 off-ramp represents the first of two weekend-long ramp closures for the I-90/SR 18 Interchange Improvements project. Beginning Friday night, March 28, the SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway on-ramp to eastbound I-90 will close through Monday morning, March 31, as work continues on a new diverging diamond interchange.
In addition to constructing the new interchange, which will improve traffic flow and safety in the area, the project also is:
- Widening more than two miles of SR 18 south of I-90 to two lanes in each direction.
- Building new four-lane bridges at Lake Creek and Deep Creek that will allow fish and wildlife to pass beneath SR 18.
- Constructing a new two-lane bridge over Raging River next to the existing SR 18 two-lane bridge.
The new diverging diamond interchange is scheduled to open late this spring or early summer, with SR 18 widening expected to finish later this year.
