The westbound Interstate 90 off-ramp to State Route 18/Snoqualmie Parkway will be closed for a weekend beginning Friday night, April 4, to realign and expand the ramp near the city of Snoqualmie.
People traveling through the area from 9 p.m. Friday, April 4, to 5 a.m. Monday, April 7, should follow a signed detour continuing westbound on I-90 to Fall City/Preston (exit 22) and looping back to the eastbound I-90 off-ramp to SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway. This includes people traveling westbound over Snoqualmie Pass who plan to head west on SR 18 toward Auburn.
The work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled.
Off-ramp changes
During the closure, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will relocate the barrier, pave the new roadway, and stripe new lanes to SR 18 near the interchange.
The off-ramp is currently a single lane, but when it reopens Monday morning, it will split into two lanes before crossing a newly installed culvert beneath the ramp. This will provide additional space for people waiting at the traffic signal to turn left onto westbound SR 18. People can use either lane to turn left onto westbound SR 18. Drivers will use the right lane to travel north on Snoqualmie Parkway.
This work is part of the I-90/SR 18 Interchange Improvements project, which is building a diverging diamond interchange and widening more than two miles of SR 18 to two lanes in each direction south of I-90. The project also is building:
- New four-lane bridges on SR 18 at Lake Creek and Deep Creek will allow fish and wildlife to pass beneath the highway.
- A new two-lane SR 18 bridge over Raging River next to the existing two-lane bridge.
The new diverging diamond interchange is scheduled to open late this spring or summer, with SR 18 widening expected later this year.
