According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), vehicle one, a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia pulling a white trailer, was traveling westbound SR18 at Tiger Mountain in lane one of two.
At just after 5 pm, the driver of the vehicle noticed flames coming from the engine compartment and came to rest in lane one, where the 54-year-old male driver exited the vehicle safely
The tractor-trailer became fully engulfed, and Eastside Fire & Rescue arrived to extinguish the flames.
SR-18 was fully blocked for 9 hours and 36 minutes.

Come on out of the woodwork, all you road-blamers! Clearly if the grade wasn’t so steep the truck’s engine wouldn’t have been under enough of a load to cause an engine fire. They need to bulldoze Tiger Mt. immediately! Are you with me?
WTF for? Just because a semi caught fire?
Of course. We need to demolish all obstacles and eliminate all curves that keep us from driving at full speed.
Why did it take 9 hours to clear the burnt out truck?
