Valley Center Stage presents Lauren Gunderson’s ode to youth, life, love and the strange beauty of human connection.
Winner of the 2014 Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award and Finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, I and You tells the story of Caroline and Anthony.
Caroline, homebound due to illness and away from school for months, gets an unexpected visit from classmate Anthony, who brings a beat-up copy of Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass and an urgent assignment from their English teacher.
Through this seemingly mundane poetry project, Caroline and Anthony open up to each other and reveal their secrets.
