Unicorns, Love, and Community Shine at Snovalley Pride’s Third Annual Pride Picnic

This past Sunday, June 8th, the heart of Carnation was bursting with color, music, and pure joy as over 700 people gathered at Tolt Commons for Snovalley Pride’s third annual Pride Picnic. Despite soaring temperatures in the 90s, attendees of all ages—from toddlers to teens, parents to elders—came together to celebrate love, inclusion, and the vibrant 2SLGBTQ+ community that calls the Snoqualmie Valley home.

The event featured a stellar lineup of live music from four incredible performers: Stephanie Anne Johnson, Brittany Davis, Elizabeth Hill and the Valley Folk, and Xander Corbett. Guests were treated to a free, delicious lunch thanks to the generosity of Carnation Café and Remlinger Farms, and enjoyed hands-on art experiences at 13 different booths, from making rainbow wind chimes and beeswax candles to painting and clay sculpting.

A very special thank you goes out to all the partner organizations who hosted art booths: A Supportive Community For All, Black Dog Arts Café, Carnation Farmers Market, Fall City Arts, Empower Youth Network, June & Gem Ceramics Studio, King County Libraries (Carnation & Duvall), Lee Arts Foundation, Lore Counseling & Art Therapy, Mosaic Montessori, North Bend Art & Industry, Rooster Haus Rescue, Snovalley Pride’s Teen Circle, and Treehouse Point.

One of the highlights of the day was the debut of Snovalley Pride’s original children’s book, ‘Uni’s Quest for Kindness’, written and illustrated by the organization’s Founder and Executive Director, Gregory Jamiel. The heartwarming story of a unicorn experiencing kindness in the Snoqualmie Valley quickly sold out its first print run, with a second batch already on the way!

The picnic would not have been possible without the unwavering support of partners and sponsors, including STG (Seattle Theatre Group), the Rotary Club of Duvall, the City of Carnation, Ladie AuPair, Tolt Records, Fall City Arts, and Snoqualmie Valley Health.

Guests also enjoyed free goat hugs from Katsiki Goat Petting Zoo, a stunning floral “campfire” from Brazen’s Blooms, on-site t-shirt printing with Camp Makae, and safety support from Snoqualmie Valley Hospital and Diversity Alliance of the Puget Sound.

If you missed the Picnic, don’t worry! Snovalley Pride’s summer fun is just getting started. Join them for their 80’s Fierce Summer Drag Show at Sigillo Cellars in Snoqualmie on Monday, June 16th, or come back to Tolt Commons for a free Community Movie Night on Friday, June 21st, featuring ‘The Greatest Showman’, live music, and their magical “Kindness Campfire” with s’mores for all.
