Tree Falls on Vehicle on SR 203 Near Fay Road, Killing One and Injuring Another

A woman died, and a man was injured, Saturday afternoon when a falling tree struck their vehicle on State Route 203 just north of Fay Road NE, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The collision occurred at approximately 1:03 p.m. on December 6. Troopers reported that a tan 2014 Subaru Forester was traveling southbound when a tree fell into the roadway and struck the vehicle, breaking apart on impact.

A blue 2025 Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound then hit the debris and came to rest blocking the northbound lane. The Subaru came to rest against a guardrail, blocking the southbound lane. The roadway was closed for 3 hours and 24 minutes.

The Subaru’s driver, 49-year-old Steven M. Fox of Skykomish, was injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center. His passenger, 44-year-old Emma K. Ingram of Duvall, died at the scene. WSP noted that Ingram was not wearing a seatbelt. The King County Medical Examiner completed next-of-kin notifications.

There were four occupants in the Chevrolet Silverado. The driver, 57-year-old David D. Brownell of Woodway, and three passengers — a female juvenile, a second female juvenile, and 46-year-old Ami C. Grubbs, also of Woodway — were not injured. All four were wearing seatbelts.

WSP identified weather conditions as the cause. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Ken’s Redmond Towing.

A GoFundMe has been created to support Emma Ingram’s two children, who are now facing an unimaginable loss. The fundraiser describes Emma as a devoted mother known for her kindness and gentle spirit, someone whose warmth touched everyone around her.

According to the campaign, her passing has left her 18-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son without their mother’s care, prompting friends, family, and community members to come together to help provide stability during a deeply difficult time. All donations will go directly toward supporting her children’s needs and honoring the legacy she leaves behind.
