Training exercises at Fire Academy in North Bend could have residents hearing explosions

The Fire Training Academy informed the City of North Bend that more training exercises – that will include explosions – will occur tonight between 4-7PM, but they won’t now be conducting exercises on Friday, September 7th as previously planned.

The City of North Bend warned that residents living east of North Bend might hear loud explosions through the remainder of Wednesday, September 5, 2018 –  and throughout the day on Friday, September 7th.

The city said via news release the explosions that began at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday were part of a training exercise at the Fire Training Academy (FTA), located off I-90 exit 38 east of the city.

North Bend PIO Jill Green said the FTA did not say what type of training was occurring.

The Washington State Fire Training Academy provides training, collaboration, and support of the fire service and other public safety professionals in an effort to protect Washington State residents.
