A severe traffic collision occurred on January 24, 2024, at 9:42 PM on Interstate 90 near West Lake Sammamish, Bellevue. The incident, which was classified as a fatal traffic collision, involved two Issaquah residents.
A 29-year-old male pedestrian involved in a previous one-car ditch collision attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of I-90. He was struck by a Toyota driven by a 40-year-old male.
The 29-year-old, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The King County Medical Examiner completed the notification of next of kin.
The driver of a 2016 Toyota Camry sustained injuries and was transported to Overlake Hospital. He was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The collision caused the vehicle to come to rest against the guardrail, partially blocking lane five and leading to a roadway blockage for approximately three hours.
Currently under investigation, the incident’s cause remains undetermined, and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved. One pedestrian was involved in the incident, and there were no motorcycles or trucks reported.
