The Starfish Roundabout project (RAB), located at the intersection of North Bend Way and NW 8th St, is on track to enter its second phase of construction. Beginning Thursday, September 10, crews will remove existing road striping and add temporary striping to aid traffic flow.
Beginning no later than Monday, September 14, lanes will shift to allow for the build-out of the RAB.
Initial work included building out the northeast leg of the RAB for NW 8th Street, building out a temporary access road for the southwest portion of NW 8th St, and widening shoulders on North Bend Way to accommodate a temporary access road.
In this next phase, residents will see much of the RAB construction, including the center island. Traffic will shift north along North Bend Way. North Bend Way will serve as a two-lane road along the north side, widened to accommodate this shift in traffic. Drivers turning west onto NW 8th Street will use the new access road crews have built out to safely accommodate RAB construction.
The City anticipates the RAB project to wrap up by spring 2027.
2027: South Fork Extension Bypass Connection
In 2027, the South Fork Extension Bypass will connect State Route 202 to the NW 8th St and North Bend Way RAB. Together, the two projects will reduce truck traffic downtown and incorporate undergrounding of power lines.
