There’s a few notable road closures happening in the next week. The Snoqualmie street closures are due to a community 4th of July parade and a few neighborhood 4th of July celebrations. Emergency vehicles will have access to these Snoqualmie roads during the closure times. The other big 5-day closure is due to an emergency fix of the Preston-Fall City Road.

PRESTON-FALL CITY ROAD CLOSURE – July 8th – 12th, 2013
King County Road Services began doing major work on Preston-Fall City Road SE on July 1st. The earlier announced plan included a one-day road closure, but due to deteriorating road conditions, emergency repair work will now require a five-day road closure for two projects.
Replace a drainage system at the 7600 block of Preston-Fall City Road
This work, which will span four weeks, is necessary because groundwater is causing the edge of the road to sink. It require a five-day road closure starting July 8th. A 12-mile detour route will be clearly marked before the closure. At other times there will be temporary lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. A drain pipe will be installed 11 feet below the road to collect groundwater and safely convey it to the river.
Repave three miles of Preston-Fall City Road from 328th Way SE to SE 82nd ST
The project requires temporary lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. A specific schedule is pending. Message boards will be in place before the work begins to warn motorists of delays. As the road is being paved, please use an alternate route or expect delays of up to 20 minutes when driving through the work zone.
The planned 12-mile detour will re-route drivers past the Preston exit 22 to Snoqualmie exit 25 and along Snoqualmie Parkway to SR 202 to Fall City.
