The Salish Lodge & Spa, operated by Columbia Hospitality and owned by the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, is an iconic destination perched atop the breathtaking Snoqualmie Falls. It has embarked on a significant renovation journey, aiming to blend its rich heritage with modern luxury.
The extensive renovation began in the summer of 2023 and is being carried out in three meticulously planned phases, each designed to enhance the guest experience while preserving the lodge’s historic charm.
Phase 1, completed early in 2024, introduced several notable improvements that have already transformed the guest experience. The newly covered entrance now provides a grand and welcoming gateway to the lodge, enhancing visitors’ arrival experience.
The lobby lounge has been revamped to feature a grand two-story wood-burning fireplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately envelops guests in comfort. The reception counter has also been modernized to improve efficiency and guest interaction, ensuring a seamless check-in process. The retail space has also been relocated and rebranded, now known as ‘The Shop,’ offering guests a curated selection of local and artisanal products that celebrate the region’s culture and craftsmanship.
Currently in progress, Phase 2 focuses on the dining and event spaces, with completion expected by the end of 2024. The installation of a state-of-the-art kitchen, centrally located on the main level, is underway, allowing the culinary team to operate with greater efficiency and creativity.
A new large meeting space is being constructed. It is designed to host events and gatherings with stunning natural views that provide a breathtaking backdrop. The main restaurant is undergoing a comprehensive redesign to offer an elevated dining experience while retaining the lodge’s traditional aesthetic.
One of the most anticipated additions is the Terrace Bar, which will feature year-round patio seating. This space will offer guests an unparalleled dining experience with direct views. It is set to become a highlight of the lodge, connecting guests more intimately to the natural beauty of the Snoqualmie Valley.
Scheduled for the first half of 2025, the final phase will transform the former “Attic” restaurant into luxurious guest accommodations. This phase includes converting the space into three expansive guestroom suites that promise to redefine luxury lodging at Salish Lodge & Spa.
These suites will offer breathtaking views, ensuring guests can wake up to memorable sights and sounds. Each suite will feature gas fireplaces and spa-like bathrooms, providing an indulgent retreat that blends comfort with the lodge’s rustic charm.
While the lodge’s exterior and key architectural elements will be modernized, much of the original Fir and Cedar woodwork will be retained and renewed, maintaining the mountainside retreat feel that guests have come to love. The new Terrace Bar will continue to feature a wood-burning fireplace, complemented by handblown lighting fixtures and stunning views.
Salish Lodge & Spa has remained committed to traditional food and beverage offerings throughout the renovation. These are served in the current restaurant space, formerly known as the Attic, and the newly opened lobby lounge.
These renovations underscore the incredible support of the lodge’s owners, the Snoqualmie Tribe, who have steadfastly dedicated to the lodge’s heritage and future. This commitment has allowed the lodge to retain its team members throughout the renovation process, ensuring that the high standard of service remains uninterrupted.
Dining Delight: A Taste of Excellence with a Friend
My friend Anne and I recently dined at the Lobby Lounge and were thoroughly impressed by the culinary experience. Anne, ever the fitness enthusiast, went for a run prior to dinner, ready to indulge in the tasty menu without any regrets.
She began with the wedge salad, featuring baby iceberg, heirloom tomato, pickled shallots, guanciale, and smoky blue cheese dressing. Anne said it hit the spot perfectly with just the right amount of blue cheese and bacon. She paired it with the Blue Lavender Drop, a spirit-free cocktail that was light and refreshing, with undertones of lavender and lemon.
I, too, had the wedge salad, though I skipped the running part. We shared the soft pretzel, which was perfectly baked with a golden crust and a soft interior. The beer cheese was rich and tangy, complementing the pretzel wonderfully. The fried pickle dip was a delightful surprise, featuring dill and Calabrian chili, providing a flavorful punch balanced by cool ranch. The breadcrumbs added a nice texture, and the house-made chips were crispy and well-seasoned.
For my drink, I chose the Watermelon Elixir, a perfect summer cocktail made with Tito’s vodka, watermelon, Kiona Ice Wine, lemon, and Salish honey. It was refreshingly light and well-balanced, making it ideal for a warm summer evening.
