The Snoqualmie Valley School District unveiled its latest School Board Redistricting Proposal on its website yesterday. You can see it here: revised_director_boundaries
There is a SVSD School Board work session tonight, May 18th, at 7PM, to publicly review this revised proposal. The work session is followed by the Public Comment Meeting on this new, revised school board realignment proposal. Residents are encouraged to attend.
This revised proposal was created in response to citizen disapproval of the district’s original realignment plan. That plan divided Snoqualmie’s population into 4 pieces and added it into current director districts. Citizens requested a proposal that ensured Snoqualmie representation on the school board and balanced the board to mirror our valley’s population.
This new proposal has the 2,2,1 structure requested by the public. It has 2 seats for North Bend, 1 new seat for Snoqualmie, 1 seat for Fall City and one shared seat between Lake Alice and Snoqualmie Ridge. The new proposal eliminates Marci Busby’s North Bend director district. Note, this plan is NOT the submitted Citizen Proposal.
Again, the state required Public Comment Meeting begins tonight, May 18th, at 7PM in the district office. The district office is located at 8001 Silva Ave SE. If the school board approves this plan, they can vote to adopt it at their scheduled May 26th meeting. If approved, the new director districts would be established to meet the June school board election filing deadline.
