A helicopter rescue occurred today, August 4th, 2024, on the southern flank of Mt. Si after a paraglider accident.
The King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Air Support Unit responded to the emergency call, which was received around 9:00 AM.
The paraglider pilot found several hundred yards below the summit, was safely hoisted by the helicopter crew. The entire lift operation was completed within minutes, showcasing the efficiency of the KCSO Air Support Unit’s hoist capabilities.
Deputy Mike Mellis, serving as the fill-in Media Relations Officer for the KCSO, confirmed that the pilot sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a medical facility for further evaluation and treatment.
The rescue operation, which began around 11:00 AM, was likely visible to many residents and visitors in the North Bend area, drawing attention to the swift response and skillful execution by the KCSO team.
