Strong Winds Expected to Linger Through Afternoon; North Bend Records 69mph Gust

The National Weather Service says strong gusty winds should peak around 7AM and then ease through the rest of Wednesday, February 12, 2014.

As of 6:15AM, weather stations at Mount Si High School and North Bend had picked up peak gusts of 47mph and 69mph.

Puget Sound Energy reported  via Twitter that they had a transmission and circuit outage in the North Bend/Snoqualmie area, with no ETA for restoration.

The gusty winds developed in the immediate wake of the strong weather front that moved through Western Washington in the early morning hours.

An avalanche warning has also been issued for the Cascade Mountains.  Hikers and skiers are advised to stay out of backcountry areas until conditions stabilize.
