Due to ongoing maintenance and construction activities, drivers should prepare for a series of single-lane closures on State Route 203 near Carnation in the upcoming weeks.
Daytime Closures: August 12th-13th and Week of August 19th
- When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 12-13
- Where: Near Northeast Carnation Farm Road, north of Carnation
Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will prepare to install a fall protection fence around a fish-passable culvert installed last fall. Flaggers will alternate traffic through the work zone.
An additional week of daytime single-lane closures is planned for the week of Aug. 19 to complete the fence installation. This marks the final phase of last fall’s fish barrier removal project on an unnamed tributary to Horseshoe Lake.
Overnight Closure: Aug. 14-15
- When: 9 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, to 4 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 15
- Where: SR 203/Tolt Avenue at Blanche Street in Carnation
WSDOT maintenance crews will reduce SR 203 to a single lane to repair damaged pavement sections. Flaggers will alternate traffic on SR 203 at Blanche Street.
Additionally, Blanche Street between McKinley Avenue and SR 203 will be closed, and a signed detour using Entwistle Street will be in place.
What to Expect
- Delays during both daytime and overnight work periods.
- Alternating single-lane traffic controlled by flaggers.
- Detours where applicable.
Drivers are urged to plan ahead, expect delays, and exercise caution by moving over when possible and slowing down in work zones.
