SR 202 Traffic Shifts Onto New Bridge Tuesday Afternoon, July 30, in Fall City

State Route 202 in Fall City will shift onto a new bridge on Tuesday afternoon, July 30. This will restore the two-lane highway to its original traffic pattern after nearly four months of construction.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will reduce the highway to one lane with alternating traffic from 8 p.m. Monday, July 29, to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, to install guardrails and paint lane markings on the new bridge. Traffic will shift onto the new span once that work is complete.

Construction will then move to an adjacent section of Southeast Fish Hatchery Road, where crews will build another bridge across Skunk Creek. Weekday single-lane closures on SR 202 with flaggers alternating traffic will continue in this area into late fall 2024.

The SR 202 and Southeast Fish Hatchery Road bridges replace aging culverts blocking salmon and other migrating fish swimming upstream. This work will open about 1.7 miles of potential upstream habitat on Skunk Creek to fish in all life stages.
