Updated: SR 18 Traffic Isn’t Very Appeeling After Banana Truck Crash

UPDATE 234 pm: The collision on westbound State Route 18 at Tiger Mountain Summit has cleared and all lanes are now open.

A semi hauling 40,000 pounds of bananas tipped Tuesday, August 26, on westbound State Route 18 at the Tiger Mountain summit (milepost 24), blocking the right lane.

One lane is open in each direction, but traffic is moving slowly. Emergency responders are on scene, and crews will need to unload the truck before it can be righted. That means the road won’t be clear any time soon.

WSDOT is asking freight traffic to avoid detouring onto Issaquah-Hobart Road or Issaquah city streets, which are not designed for semi-trucks.

There is no estimate for reopening the blocked lane. Drivers can get real-time travel updates from the WSDOT mobile app, the Travel Center Map, or by signing up for email alerts.
