SR 18 to Alternate Overnight Closures in Each Direction Nov. 6 Between Snoqualmie and Maple Valley

State Route 18 will alternate closing in each direction Wednesday night, Nov. 6, to add permanent lane striping between Snoqualmie and Maple Valley.

The first closure will be on eastbound SR 18, beginning at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6. When work is complete in that direction, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will turn around and stripe westbound SR 18. Each directional closure is expected to last about three hours, but there is no definite time for the switch. Both directions will open by 5 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.

Eastbound and westbound travelers will not be allowed over Tiger Mountain summit simultaneously during the respective directional closures.

The work is part of a regional pavement repair project. In the event of wet weather, work will move to Thursday night, Nov. 7.

During these closures, freight traffic should not use Issaquah-Hobart Road or Issaquah city streets, as these streets are unsuitable for trucks and heavy freight.

Eastbound SR 18 closure
During the eastbound closure of SR 18, people will not be allowed east of Issaquah-Hobart Road and should follow one of two detours:

  • All semi-trucks and freight should use northbound I-405 to eastbound I-90.
  • Passenger vehicles may use northbound Issaquah-Hobart Road to northbound Front Street to eastbound I-90.

Westbound SR 18 closure
During the westbound SR 18 closure, only local traffic will be allowed south of I-90. Other people should follow one of two detours:

  • All semi-trucks and freight traffic should use westbound I-90 to southbound I-405.
  • Passenger vehicles may use westbound I-90 to southbound Front Street to southbound Issaquah-Hobart Road.
