ORIGINAL STORY

The Sallal Grange in North Bend invites the community to join them for the SnoValley Safety Expo on Saturday, April 21st from 9AM – 2PM. Community members can learn how to prepare for emergencies, how to stay safe.. AND have fun doing it!

Join Eastside Fire & Rescue, local CERT, NorCom (local 911 provider), the Red Cross, and the Forest Service for fun and education.

Organizers say food, safety related prizes, and fun are on tap, with presentations at 9:30AM, 10:45AM, noon and 1:15PM.

There will be a kid’s area with activities, info booths, a fire truck, a fire extinguisher station (bring your extinguisher for testing and see demonstrations), and more.

The US Department of Forestry will be on hand to give tips on hiking safety. Attendees can learn about CERT, and how to be CERT certified… it’s easier than you think!.

See what supplies are needed for your home Emergency Kit and what supplies are needed for a neighborhood.

There will be demonstrations and information on what to do in case of fire, earthquakes, floods… but probably not zombie outbreaks. Learn when and how to safely turn off the gas to your home and how to safely turn it back on – not to mention when that’s necessary, and when that’s not a good idea.

Find out what to say and not say if you need to call 911 for adults and kids. Kids can learn how to protect themselves and their families in playful ways, including how to create an exit plan for family and pets in various situations.

Organizers say: Planning saves Lives. Planning Prevents Panic. So information on how to help neighborhoods organize and set up emergency plans will also be given.

To top it all off, the grange will be collecting food for the Snoqualmie Valley Food Band and also raffle off two tickets to a concert with Tinkham Road, on Saturday, June 23, 2018 when they bring their locally inspired music to the Sallal Grange stage.

And it you’re hungry, Frankie’s Pizza and home-baked goods and refreshments will be available.

There…. that should cover it all. See you at the See You at the SnoValley Safety Expo!
