Snoqualmie Welcomes New City Administrator Michael Sauerwein

The Snoqualmie City Council recently confirmed Michael (Mike) Sauerwein as City Administrator, a role that starts on January 10.

Sauerwein, who most recently worked as City Manager for Medina, Washington, was selected following a nationwide search that produced a field of 25 candidates from 14 states and 2 countries. Fire Chief Mark Correira has been serving as the Interim City Administrator since March of this year.

Sauerwein previously served as Assistant City Manager and Director of Administrative Services for Sammamish, Washington (2004-2013.) Prior to that, Sauerwein was the City Manager for Sheridan, Oregon for 10 years, where he managed the city’s municipal utilities and worked closely with a neighboring Tribal Government to address regional transportation and public safety issues.

Sauerwein has a master’s degree in Public Affairs from the University of Oregon and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, also from the University of Oregon.

“I look forward to serving the Snoqualmie community and working with the Mayor, the City Council, and all of the great people who work for the City,” Sauerwein said.

Sauerwein will take the oath of office at the January 10 City Council Meeting.
