Snoqualmie Valley School District Board to Vote on BESS Resolution Friday

The Snoqualmie Valley School District Board of Directors will hold a special meeting Friday, May 1, at 3:30 p.m. to vote on Resolution No. 901, which requests comprehensive environmental review, school-safety consultation, and consideration of mitigation measures related to the proposed Cascadia Ridge Battery Energy Storage System project.

The resolution asks King County to conduct environmental review that specifically evaluates potential impacts on student and staff safety, school transportation routes, evacuation feasibility, shelter-in-place planning, family reunification, and continuity of school operations. It also requests that the district be included as a consulted agency throughout the SEPA and permitting processes.

The board does not take a position on battery energy storage technology or on the ultimate approval or denial of the project, but states that the project’s proximity to district schools, facilities, and student transportation routes warrants thorough review. Board directors and Superintendent Dan Schlotfeldt are expected to discuss the resolution before the vote. Adoption is recommended.

The meeting is online only and open to the public. Watch live Friday at 3:30 p.m. at this YouTube link.
