Snoqualmie River Flood Forecast: No Significant Flooding Expected but Some Road Closures May Occur

The Snoqualmie River near downtown Snoqualmie is currently flowing at approximately 13,100 cubic feet per second* (cfs). River stages are forecast to increase throughout Tuesday evening, cresting at approximately 27,000 cfs on Wednesday, January 14 at 4 a.m., according to the NOAA Northwest River Forecast Center.

Road Closures
No significant flooding is expected. Some lowland flooding may occur, such as on SE Reinig Road and Mill Pond Road, resulting in temporary road closures. Do not drive through water or around road barriers.

 Storm Drains and Pooling Water

During heavy rainfall, residents can help prevent water from pooling in local streets by keeping storm drain entrances clear of debris, including leaves and tree branches. Storm drains help to move water off streets preventing dangerous driving conditions quickly.

 Parking
Residents in areas that experience higher waters during early flood stages are advised to move vehicles to higher ground, such as the parking lot by Snoqualmie Community Park, 35016 SE Ridge St (next to the YMCA).

Sandbags Available as Needed
Residents or businesses that need sandbags now or for future flooding can get them at the Public Works Facility, 38910 SE Stearns Road (near the Tokul Roundabout and Mill Pond Rd). Sand, bags, and shovels are available for use.

 The Snoqualmie Emergency Management Department is continuing to monitor river flow changes.

 *As defined by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), cubic feet per second (cfs) refers to the rate of flow in streams and rivers. It is equal to the volume of water one foot high and one foot wide flowing a distance of one foot in one second. One cfs equals 7.48 gallons of water flowing each second.
