On December 16, 2023, Snoqualmie Police Department officers responded to a Suspicious Circumstances call at the Meadowbrook Farm Elk Fields on Railroad Ave SE in downtown Snoqualmie.
A caller reported a U-Haul van with a male subject in the ditch nearby. As this is the area where the Snoqualmie Police Department has made multiple arrests for theft and damage to the Lumen and Comcast internet cables, multiple officers responded to the area. The U-Haul van was still located in the area. Officers conducted an investigative stop and discovered 300 feet of cut copper communications cable in the back of the van.
The van’s two occupants were detained and later arrested for Theft 1 and Malicious Mischief 1. They were booked into the King County Jail. The Snoqualmie Police Department thanks Comcast and Lumen corporate security teams, who have been instrumental partners in these ongoing cases.
This is the fourth arrest the Snoqualmie Police Department made for cutting and stealing the communications cables along Railroad Ave SE. SPD works with several regional agencies, including the Kent Police Department and the King County Sheriff’s Office, in this investigation.
Currently, it appears these crimes are linked to several other similar crimes in King County, including one incident that took Valley Com 911 offline for nearly 24 hours. Valley Com provides 911 dispatch services for police and fire in South King County.
