Snoqualmie Manufacturer Marks 50 Years by Opening Its Doors to Local Students

Technical Glass Products (TGP), an Allegion company, will open its manufacturing headquarters in Snoqualmie, Wash., to local high school students to mark the company’s 50th anniversary in the glazing industry and Manufacturing Day (MFG Day), a nationwide celebration of the thriving manufacturing industries in America.

This event showcases manufacturing advancements, educates the community on manufacturing’s importance to the national economy, and provides students with information on viable career paths in the industry.

The longstanding collaboration between TGP and the high school benefits both. “For TGP, this event is important as we continue to build a talent pipeline with the local community. And the students are always excited to tour the shop floor and see some of the skills they learn in action,” says Lauren Feagler, Human Resources Director – Doors and Windows Business Unit at Allegion.

“The students also enjoy speaking with current employees, especially those who are earlier in their careers, to understand how they have had opportunities to learn, grow, and try new roles at TGP.” Feagler continues, “It’s a great opportunity to meet bright, young local talent with an interest in manufacturing.

Coinciding with TGP’s 50th anniversary, MFG Day takes on added importance

“Reaching 50 years in this industry is a testament to the incredible people behind our products,” says Devin Bowman, General Manager at TGP. “From our engineers and design teams to the skilled hands turning raw materials into life-saving assemblies, quality at every level is what built our half-century legacy. As we celebrate 50 years, Manufacturing Day is the perfect opportunity to connect with the generation who will drive our next 50 years of boundary pushing glazing systems.”

During TGP’s 50 years in glazing manufacturing, the company has developed and refined multiple fire-rated, fire- and security-rated, fire- and hurricane-rated, radiation-shielding and architectural glazing systems—thanks in part to the driven teams on-site in Snoqualmie and Perrysburg, Ohio. Likewise, TGP has also given back to the surrounding community, directly and indirectly. Since moving to Snoqualmie in 2008, TGP has:

  • Participated in Puget Sound Energy’s Green Power program to match 100% of electricity usage with 100 percent regional, renewable energy
  • Sponsored community transit programs
  • Diverted 96 percent of construction wastes from landfills
  • Reduced water use with low-flow fixtures and reclaimed water
  • Supported company health and wellness with an on-site gym and other wellness programs
  • Served on the Snoqualmie Valley School District Career and Technical Education Advisory Board
  • Donated groceries and shifts to the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank
  • Hosted annual toy drives through Kiwanis to provide gifts to kids in the Snoqualmie Valley

Regarding community involvement, David Vermeulen, North American Sales Director at TGP, states, “At TGP, we believe in the importance of making the communities where we live and work better. On one level, this involves providing safe and rewarding careers in manufacturing. On another, it means being a responsible steward for the land, water and air. It also means giving back to the community. Participating in programs that do all these things both helps TGP continue to manufacture life-saving glass in a beautiful location and allows our community to thrive. We hope through these programs and Manufacturing Day events we can continue to give back to Snoqualmie and our local communities.”

Five decades ago, TGP began as a small glass company with a simple belief: people, products, and purpose come first. Driven by this belief, TGP became the one source for fire-rated glass and framing systems, along with other specialty and architectural glass products.
