Snoqualmie Invites Public to March 4 Town Hall on December Flood Response

The City of Snoqualmie is asking residents to join a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, March 4, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mount Si High School in the South Commons near the main entrance. Free parking is available near the school’s main entrance.

The December flood event tested the city’s preparation, coordination, and resilience. City department leaders will briefly share what happened, what went well, and where improvements are underway. The city is asking residents to share their experiences and ideas to help strengthen future response efforts.

City officials said the December flood was one of the most significant events Snoqualmie has experienced in recent years. Since the flood, staff have focused on stabilizing infrastructure, completing recovery work, and conducting a detailed internal review of the response before opening the conversation to residents. With those immediate and technical efforts complete, the City is now seeking community input to help inform future response planning.

Community observations and feedback will help guide Snoqualmie’s preparation for and response to future storms and emergencies. The City said it hopes to hear both what residents believe worked well during the flood response and what can be strengthened going forward, including perspectives on communication, traffic impacts, preparedness, and lessons that should inform future emergency planning.

Families are welcome. A supervised children’s activity area will be available, allowing parents to participate fully. Pizza and beverages will be provided.

Residents who are unable to attend may share input by email at info@snoqualmiewa.gov. “We believe the most productive conversations happen when residents can hear one another and build on shared perspectives, which is why we are encouraging in-person participation. However, residents who are unable to attend may share their input by email. All feedback received will be reviewed and incorporated into the overall summary.”

The City also confirmed it will provide follow-up communication. “We will publish a summary of the internal review along with themes and insights gathered from the Town Hall. We want residents to see how their input contributes to future improvements and planning efforts.”

The meeting is designed to ensure residents are heard as the City continues preparing for future storms and emergencies.
