Snoqualmie Fire Dept. Offers FREE Stop the Bleed + Opioid Overdose Education Class, Dec. 9

The Snoqualmie Fire Dept. will offer a free Stop the Bleed + Opioid Overdose Education training class on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, from 9 – 11:30 a.m. The new combo class offers community members the opportunity to be trained by experts to respond during emergency situations and help save a life.

Stop the Bleed
Skills learned from completing Stop the Bleed training can make the difference between life and death when it comes to home injuries, work-related injuries, motor vehicle crashes or mass shootings. Stop the Bleed focuses on the immediate response to bleeding, recognition of life-threatening bleeding, and appropriate ways to stop bleeding.

During the 90-minute session, participants will have an opportunity to practice with tourniquets, apply direct pressure to simulated wounds and learn how to pack (fill) wounds with medical gauze.

Instructors will guide you through hands-on bleeding control techniques while providing personalized feedback. Trusted by first responders, law enforcement, doctors, nurses, and disaster responders, this course turns you from a bystander into an immediate responder.

Opioid Education and Overdose/Poisoning Reversal
With the dramatic rise in opioid use, addiction, and overdoses/poisonings across the region, this class offers vital opioid education and opioid overdose/poisoning reversal training.

In this one-hour class, participants will learn about multiple situations that can lead to an opioid overdose/poisoning, how to recognize potential and actual opioid overdose/poisoning situations; and how to respond to save a life.

Participants will be trained to administer the lifesaving and opioid-reversing drug Naloxone and will be provided with a Naloxone emergency medication kit at the completion of training.

Register online for the Stop the Bleed + Opioid Education class to reserve a spot. Class size is limited to 30 people. Participants must be 14 years of age and older.
