Snoqualmie City Council Adopts Resolution for Construction of All-inclusive Playground at Centennial Fields Park

On June 26, 2023, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 1657, awarding a contract for site preparation and equipment installation to construct a long-awaited all-inclusive playground at Centennial Fields Park in downtown Snoqualmie.

The $976,000 project is part of the City’s approved 2023-28 Capital Improvement Plan. The approved resolution authorizes the mayor to sign a contract with NewX Construction for the Centennial Fields All-inclusive Playground Project. The City Council approved the Play Creation inclusive equipment purchase in spring 2023.

The All-inclusive Playground Project will create a large, 10,000 sq. ft. playground providing equipment designed for inclusive play regardless of ability or age.

It will include ramps and a surface material to improve wheelchair access, play equipment for those with mobility impairments, and tactile and musical play equipment for autistic and sight-impaired users. The new playground will be significantly larger than the existing Centennial Fields playground.

The project’s funding sources include $672,000 in grants from King County, the Recreation and Conservation Office of Washington State, and private donations coordinated by Kiwanis.

Construction of the All-inclusive Playground Project is planned for late summer 2023 through Fall 2023.
