Snoqualmie Arts Commission, Eastside Fire & Rescue Need Volunteers; Application Deadlines Quickly Approaching

City of Snoqualmie Arts Commission – Deadline: Friday, January 11th

Screen Shot 2013-01-08 at 9.13.01 AMThe City of Snoqualmie Arts Commission has an opening for a new member and applications are now being accepted. To be considered, the new member must reside within Snoqualmie city limits.  Applications must be submitted by Friday, January 11th.

The Arts Commission advises the City Council on public artwork and promotes programs to increase interest and engagement in the fine and performing arts. Commission members also work toward preservation of Snoqualmie’s cultural heritage.

Members meet on the second Monday of each month at 6PM.  All meetings are at Snoqualmie City Hall, 38624 SE River Street.

Applications are available on the City of Snoqualmie website. Applications may be delivered to Snoqualmie City Hall, 39624 SE River Street, or mailed to Jodi Warren, City Clerk, P.O. Box 987,  Snoqualmie, Washington, 98065.

Eastside Fire and Rescue Volunteer Firefighter Opportunity – Deadline: Wednesday, January 23rd

Screen Shot 2013-01-08 at 9.11.11 AMEastside Fire & Rescue (EF&R) is seeking men and women interested in serving as volunteers for the communities of Tiger Mountain, Maple Hills, Preston, Lake Joy, and Wilderness Rim.  If you have ever wanted to be part of a team that can truly make a difference, this is your opportunity.  Eastside Fire & Rescue is looking for energetic, community-minded residents willing to assist with the delivery of emergency medical and firefighting services.

The Agency provides modern, progressive, and professional services to approximately 119,000 citizens who reside throughout the 190 square miles.  Fire, emergency medical and special response services are provided from 15 stations, ten of which are staffed with volunteer firefighters and EMS (emergency medical services) responders who carry pagers and respond when there is an emergency in their neighborhood.

The minimum age to apply is 18.  Applicants must have good driving records and can now live outside the boundaries of EF&R, but within five miles of the closest response station.  The testing process includes a written, physical ability, psychological evaluation and an oral interview.  The Agency will provide a medical physical exam and all required clothing.
