Small Business Saturday* was first observed in the United States on November 27, 2010, and later recognized by the U.S. Senate in 2011. Small Business Saturday is a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which feature big-box retail and e-commerce stores.

By contrast, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick-and-mortar businesses that are small and local. Data from QuickBooks shows that up to 65% of small businesses’ annual revenue was generated during the holidays last year. [1]
