Sending a Message: Snoqualmie Valley Teachers rally for McCleary Promise, Friday June 2nd

As state legislators continue to debate how to fully fund basic education, local teachers will be hoping to send an important message their way: live up to the promise.

This Friday, June 2nd, the Snoqualmie Valley Education Association will be rallying from 1PM-4PM on Snoqualmie Ridge.

The local teacher’s union hopes the rally sends a message to Washington State legislators in Olympia about the importance of living up to the McClearly promise that students have the right to amply funded public schools.

According to the SVEA website, “We will rally because fully funding quality basic education for all children is Washington’s paramount duty. This includes voter-approved smaller class sizes, professional compensation, and local control of our schools.”

Community members are invited to join teachers at the rally and help speak up for local students and schools. Friday’s event will bring together SVEA members, parents, students, administrators, principals, support staff, secretaries, etc. for speeches and sign waving to encourage the Snoqualmie Valley community to speak up for fully funded schools.

Prior to the rally teachers will march from Center Street to Snoqualmie Parkway to Douglas, back up to Center Street and finish at Snoqualmie Community Park to start the rally around 2PM.
