I am guessing this search is happening further north than the Snoqualmie/North Bend area, but just in case it stretches further south, here is some information in case anyone sees or hears low-flying planes in the area today. I hope they find the plane’s occupants okay.
Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation Emergency Services is coordinating the search for a home-built airplane that has been missing since early Monday, July 23rd.
The pilot departed from the Tonasket area, heading for Sequim. Family members notified emergency services when the pilot did not arrive as scheduled.
Searchers from WSDOT, the Civil Air Patrol and Washington Air Search and Rescue set up a search base at the Wenatchee Airport. Douglas County emergency officials are supporting aviation crews in Wenatchee.
Four planes flew routes for six hours Monday night, starting in Sequim and heading to the Tonasket area, flying late into the night. Planes went up again early today and are continuing their to search routes the pilot may have taken.
Skies were clear in eastern Washington on Monday, but it was overcast through the Cascade Mountains and most of western Washington. Better weather today will help in search efforts.
Officials have not located a flight plan or the plane’s emergency beacon.
