No rest for the weary. Right as Railroad Days wraps up a busy weekend in downtown Snoqualmie, Boeing Classic week ramps up on Snoqualmie Ridge.
And.. how do you know Boeing Classic week has begun at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge? When local sports stars show up at the golf course for the Seahawks annual Rumble at the Ridge.
Ten years ago while on an evening run, an SUV pulled over on Snoqualmie Parkway and the driver asked my husband for directions to I-90. That driver was former Seattle Mariner, Edgar Martinez, who had apparently lost his way after golfing in the annual charity tournament.
If you’re wondering how to get tickets… well, if you live on Snoqualmie Ridge, the Homeowner’s Association will be distributing complimentary Boeing Classic passes that will get you into events all week-long, including Rumble at the Ridge, Pro-AM events and each day of the 3-day tournament,
Each household is given 4 weekly tournament passes. Residents can pick up tickets starting Saturday, August 16th, from 10AM – 2PM, and then each evening, Monday, August 18th – Thursday, August 21st, from 10AM-12PM and 5PM-7PM, at a booth set up at Snoqualmie Community Park, 35016 SE Ridge Street. You can also purchase tickets at www.boeingclassic.com.
Rumble at the Ridge kicks off at 8:30AM, Monday, August 18th. The event brings together local sports and entertainment celebrities to “tee it up for charity,” with all proceeds to benefit health programs at Virginia Mason Medical Center and A Better Smile. Over the Boeing Classic’s nine-year run in Snoqualmie, nearly $5 million has been raised for the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason.
Some of this year’s Rumble at the Ridge participants include:
- Sydney Rice
- Mack Strong
- Jacob Green
- Ricky Watters
- Jim Zorn
- Dave Krieg
- Slick Watts
- Gus Williams
- Jacob Green
- Kenny Mayne
- Kasey Keller
- and MORE
Following the charity event at 2PM, the first practice round of the 2014 Champions Tour Boeing Classic starts. For complete details on all events happening during the 2014 Boeing Classic week, visit www.boeingclassic.com
Boeing Jet Flyover, Friday August 22nd
And remember, as always, a Boeing jet flyover signals the start of the tournament. This year, that low-flying jet is set to soar over TPC Snoqualmie Ridge at 11:20AM, Friday, August 22, 2014. So be prepared and know that nothing is wrong – just a simple jet flyover on a (hopefully) sunny summer day.
The Boeing Classic is an official event on the PGA Champions Tour, which features legends of golf, 50 years of age or older. John Riegger is the tournament’s defending champion after a four-shot victory at the 2013 Boeing Classic. A record 86,000 spectators and nearly 1,000 volunteers were a part of last year’s tournament in Snoqualmie.
