A 49-year-old Sammamish man was injured Friday night at 9:43 pm after his vehicle left the roadway on Interstate 90 near milepost 25 and struck two trees, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers report the driver was traveling westbound on I-90, approaching milepost 24 in lane three of three, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle then rotated, and the driver was ejected through the passenger-side window. The vehicle struck a second tree before coming to rest approximately 20 feet into a ditch.
The roadway was blocked for 2 hours and 37 minutes following the crash.
The driver, identified as Stuart T. Nomura, 49, of Sammamish, was transported to Harborview Medical Center with injuries. The Washington State Patrol indicated that a seatbelt was not worn.
Troopers report that drugs or alcohol were not involved. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The vehicle involved was a silver 2021 Toyota Corolla sedan, which was totaled and towed from the scene by Todd’s Towing. Charges are pending.
