Recent Willamette University And Mount Si Graduate Keeps Snoqualmie's Summer Winds Day Camp Going This Summer

Summer Winds Day Camp is about creating, exploring and discovering in the rural King County/Snoqualmie area.  The program is designed for kids ages 4 – 12 years.

Summer Winds Camp offers three weeks of summer fun exploring the natural world, discovering new passions, learning about the world we live in and creating arts, crafts, and music.  This camp encourages self-discovery and fun with other campers.  Summer Winds is located on a small farm complete with creeks, woods, meadows and farm critters in rural Snoqualmie.

The camp began in 2000 under the direction of Becca Hall.  She started the camp to have fun with kids in a nature setting.  This year it will be led by Haley Williamson, a friend and neighbor of Becca who is excited about spending the summer exploring the joys of Pacific Northwest summers.

Haley is long-time valley resident, a 2008 MSHS graduate and a 2012 Willamette University graduate.  She was a swim instructor at Si View and worked at multiple day and overnight camps over the years.  She is also a veteran girl scout, spending 12 years in the program.  She is thrilled to take over the camp this summer – happy to keep the program going for other local kids.  These are some of Haley’s favorite camp activities on tap for summer 2012:

“In Medieval Merrymakers, ages 6-10, we are going to make puppets to put on a puppet show, make a tapestry that tells a story, do archery, and if the weather is bad, decorate the barn like a castle!  One of my favorite things about the middle ages is that people still believed in miracles and magic.  We are also going to make fairy houses, build forts, and go on quests in the woods.

For Get Creative, ages 4-7, we are going to paint faces, play with clay, build forts, make musical instruments – and play them!  I love music and art, and I am so excited to spend the week being creative!  We will also play games, help collect eggs and get creative in the woods.

Nature Discoverers, ages 7-12, will be all about the natural world around us.  We will do fun science experiments, learn about nature, make animal masks, dream-catchers, do archery, build forts and go exploring in the wilderness of Summer Winds! We will also learn fun survival skills, sing songs and play fun games all week.”

Camps run from 9AM to 3PM Monday – Friday. 12 campers maximum in each session.

  • Medieval Merrymakers: ages 6 to 10 runs June 25th – 29th – $250 per camper.
