Recent Echo Glen Escape Prompts New Notification Alert Option for Nearby Neighborhoods

On May 28, 2023, Echo Glen Children’s Center – a Washington State juvenile detention facility located just outside the Snoqualmie city limits at 33010 SE 99th Street – experienced an escape involving seven inmates who assaulted a staff member, stole a vehicle, and fled the area. All seven inmates are now back in police custody.

Given the proximity of some Snoqualmie neighborhoods to this facility, the City of Snoqualmie has collaborated with the King County Office of Emergency Management (KCOEM) to develop an Echo Glen escape notification message using the opt-in Alert King County regional public information and notification system.

The Alert King County system helps residents stay informed about potential hazards and threats that impact their area.

In the event of a future Echo Glen escape incident, the Snoqualmie Police Chief or Captain will initiate the activation of this new Alert King County message that will be sent to residents in the Snoqualmie neighborhoods of Eagle Point, Aster Creek, and Deer Park, which are the closest neighborhoods to the Echo Glen Children’s Center.

That message will then also be disseminated via the city website emergency alert system.

Please Note: To receive these notifications, you must first register with the opt-in Alert King County service by providing your name and physical address, email address and phone number where you wish to receive the notification.

To sign up for the City Emergency Alert system, visit the City website Notify Me page, where you can register to have emergency alerts, calendar items, and news releases sent to you via email or text message.
