The escapee, Brandon J. Musto, 37, had only three months left to serve on his sentence when he turned up missing Wednesday evening at the Monroe prison’s minimum security unit.

Musto apparently went over a fence topped with razor wire, although officials are checking video as they investigate, said Chad Lewis, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections.

Debbie Willis at Monroe Police says they have received credible information that Musto is in the area of North Bend, exit 38 off Interstate 90.

She said officers will be searching the wooded area, with assistance from King County Sheriff’s Office deputies, the Washington State Patrol, the Department of Corrections and U.S. Marshals.

People who live in the area are asked to call 911 if they see anything unusual. Musto is described as white, 5-foot-8, 180 pounds with brown eyes and dark hair. He has tattoos on his right arm and left wrist.

A 59-year-old man, whose name was not released, was arrested Thursday in McCleary on suspicion of aiding Musto in his escape from the Monroe facility.”
