Did you know that Girls Volleyball is one of the most successful sports at Mount Si High School? In Coach Bonnie Foote’s 12 years as head coach, Mount Si has become a yearly state contender. The 2011 season saw the Wildcats win their third consecutive KingCo 3A/2A championship and then go on to finish sixth in the state tournament, bringing home four state trophies in the last five years.
MSHS volleyball had seven players named to the 2011 KingCo 3A All-Conference Teams, including Sarah McDonald as League MVP. Two seniors recently signed with colleges to continue their volleyball careers at the college level next year. Krista Galloway will be playing for the Oregon Tech Owls and Sarah McDonald received a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
Next week, June 4th-7th, the MSHS Volleyball Program is holding a volleyball camp for local 5th-8th girls and boys at Mount Si from 5-8PM. The cost of the camp is $90. Mount Si players will be working alongside coaches instructing campers. The camp is put on as a fundraiser to help cover the costs of summer numerous volleyball camps players attend. To register by go to mountsivolleyball.com.
Another MSHS sponsored volleyball camp is the Gold Medal Squared Camp. It is July 18th-21st and is open to all 7th and 8th grade girls. This is a premier volleyball camp, taught by experienced coaches with some of the best teaching tools available. This camp is first come, first serve. The first 70 athletes to register and send in payment will assured a camp spot. Interested campers must register at www.goldmedalsquared.com.
Sweet tooth alert! Volleyball players are also currently selling gourmet popcorn to help fund additional coaching salaries and new equipment next season. The popcorn is available 4 flavors for $5.00 a bag – and I am told it is delicious. Contact Michelle Larson at Miclarson65@hotmail.com to order.
