The City of Carnation is proud to announce the opening of a U.S. Passport Acceptance Facility at Carnation City Hall, located at 4621 Tolt Avenue. Community members in the Snoqualmie Valley and surrounding areas can now conveniently apply for routine passports in Carnation on a drop-in basis, with no appointment required.
Whether planning a family trip abroad, getting a child’s first passport, or preparing for future travel, the City of Carnation is ready to help.
Passport services are a high-demand resource in King County, and Carnation’s facility helps fill that need by providing a local option without the hassle of advance scheduling. The City also offers photo services, so you don’t have to make a separate trip.
The City processes DS-11 applications, which are for children’s passports, first-time adult applications, and certain special renewals. DS-82 renewals (adult standard renewals) are handled via mail and are not processed in person in a facility.
Revenue generated through the program directly supports city operations, including the Carnation Cares Grant Program. This grant program funds nonprofit services such as providing meals for school children and seniors.
In addition to revenue, one of the City’s primary goals is to foster economic development in the downtown core by attracting visitors who will dine, shop, and recreate in Carnation during their passport trip. During the pilot phase of the passport program, Carnation business owners saw an uptick in patronage.
“If you got to a coffee shop or restaurant in Carnation on a weekday, chances are you’ll see a few passport customers,” said Mayor Jim Ribail. “This new service not only makes travel easier for our community, but it also brings new visitors to support our local businesses and experience all that Carnation has to offer.”
