Fire damages Snoqualmie Ridge home, homeowner suffers minor injuries

A large house fire at the very end of Fairway Place on Snoqualmie Ridge had multiple fire trucks screaming through quiet streets during the early morning hours of Saturday, August 4, 2018.

Snoqualmie Public Information Officer Joan Pliego said the first firefighters arrived on scene at 3:53AM. The fire was located at the front entrance of the home. The flames extended into the roof, requiring firefighters to cut through the home’s metal roof – creating a lot of noise. Pliego said the home’s garage and cars inside looked fine.

The male homeowner sustained minor burns trying to put out the flames and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. The female occupant and dogs were uninjured. One firefighter was transported to Swedish Hospital. He was discharged and later returned to work.

Crews had the fire under control within the hour, and around 4:30am were working on extinguishing hot spots. At 6:45AM Pliego said crews were still on scene.

Firefighters from Snoqualmie FD, Bellevue FD, Fall City FD and Eastside Fire & Rescue responded to the fire. According to SFD Chief Mark Correira, the King County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Unit indicated the cause was accidental, likely starting in a yard waste container. Damages were estimated at $100,000.

  • Home fires can be devastating. Glad to read that everyone is safe. Thoughts and prayers with the family.

  • On behalf of my wife and 2 puppies, we are very grateful to the Police Department, Fire Department from Snoqualmie (and others) that responded. Their quick action prevented the fire from spreading and saved Coco (our beloved Frenchie) who was missing in the house. We also want to than all our friends, neighbor and family for their outpouring of support. Special shout out to 3 kids RJ, Logan and Cole for setting up a lemonade stand to raise money for us……………may not be enough to rebuild the house but it sure brought warmth to our hearts and a big smile to our faces. With kids like these, we have a fine future ahead of us. Thank you all very much again from the bottom of our hearts. The Leong Family
