The westbound Interstate 90 off-ramp to State Route 18 will close overnight on Tuesday, Oct. 29, to place temporary barriers and re-stripe the ramp near Snoqualmie. The work is part of the I-90/SR 18 Interchange Improvements project.
The ramp will close from 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30. While the ramp is closed, a signed detour will guide traffic to Preston/Fall City (exit 22), where drivers can loop back and use the eastbound I-90 off-ramp to SR 18. Please allow extra time to travel through the area.
When the ramp re-opens Wednesday morning, drivers may notice changes to the traffic pattern along the ramp, but lane capacity will remain the same. These changes will create a work zone behind the barrier so crews can continue building a new off-ramp for the diverging diamond interchange.
Diverging diamond interchange
When completed early in 2025, the diverging diamond interchange will improve traffic flow and reduce potential conflict points where collisions could occur. Another interchange of this type is near Olympia.
